Last week Thompson had a play date with a few of his little baby buddies. My friend,
Kalie, who hosted the get together, had the genius idea of setting up a little kiddie pool to let them splash around in. Thompson LOVED it. After hearing that it was a Toys R Us summer clearance purchase, I decided I must get in on some of that action. So, Trevor and I went over and bought a few summer toys to try out over the weekend.
We did Thompson's cousin Ethan proud and went for the Cars kiddie pool. We also got a few little new pool/bath toys that he couldn't stop playing with. Despite the fact that the water was freezing, he loved splashing around.
Once goosebumps set in though, I decided he needed to come out and get a good snuggle.
Which lasted for about .05 seconds. Then it was back to playing, as usual.
{side note: I realize his hair is starting to look a little girly in the above pictures. That, combined with the awesome mullet he has been rocking in the back should warrant a haircut. We just haven't been able to bring ourselves to do it. Maybe once strangers start asking how old our little girl is...maybe then. He would make a cute little girl though, yes?}
We also got a little bubble blowing machine, which was met with...well we aren't exactly sure. He kept wanting to try and pop the bubbles and play with them. And he didn't want me to stop blowing them. As you can tell though, he looked completely unamused, even when he would catch a bubble to pop.
By the end we did see a slight glimmer of interest. Maybe next time around he will have less of a poker face with the bubbles. Or maybe next time around we will have to combine the pool and the bubbles. That may really confuse him about how to react.
